🐺 The Dog Explained by the Wolf — a fascinating dive into the origin of your best friend!
🏆 1st Prize of the Centrale Canine 2023 — Technical Document Category
“A wolf filled with humanity”: this is how Jean de la Fontaine described the dog in his fable The Wolf and the Shepherds. A poetic definition, but above all confirmed by DNA, concerning both the origin of the dog and its modification by humans. Pierre Jouventin, ethologist and former research director at CNRS, invites you to understand your dog like never before — by tracing back to its wild roots. 🐶✨
✨ What you will find in this book:
🧬 How our ancestors created the dog from the wolf, and why it became “man’s best friend”
🐺 The fundamental difference between the dog and the chimpanzee in their relationship with humans
🧠 The dog’s original ecological niche, its deep motivations, and the reasons behind its behaviors
🔍 Why the dog is more difficult to understand than commonly believed, and how to address this
🐕 The keys to truly understanding how your dog sees the world and making it a true companion
